Plantations for People

The good news is that when change happens, it can happen fast. At NGP we learnt even the worst situations can be turned around.

The legend says that one day the sea serpent awoke. A great wind blew up. The waters turned blood red. Thunder roared and lightning lit the night. The men of the earth were afraid. They didn’t know that some things you learn best in calm, but the important ones are learnt in the storm.

Present existing inclusive business models and cases of investment in communities, to discuss how to scale them up, is what will bring us together again in Santiago. Join us to be part of it.

In 2015, NGP is going to celebrate its Annual Meeting in Santiago, Chile. During one week, WWF Chile, Arauco, CMPC and Masisa, will play hosts of a series of events, with the overarching title “Plantations for People”. From 16 until the 20 of March, the NGP Participants will gather in their Annual Meeting.

On the two first days, the platform will have its internal meeting for the annual balance and planning. During the rest of the week, the entire programme will be dedicated to communities. It will encompass the NGP World Café, with Chilean stakeholders, the second Community Talks, where community leaders from different parts of the world tell stories about living in plantations landscapes, and the workshop Think Landscapes, to explore potential synergies between plantation landscapes and climate action.

The 2015 NGP Annual Meeting will end up in the field, with the local communities, in a two-day experience of visits, conversations and interactions with Chilean forest communities.
