Those interested in protecting, recovering, and improving the socio-economic development of the Atlantic Forest in Bahia can, on March 26, 2021, participate in the launching of the Southern Bahia People and Nature Fund - Fundo Ambiental Sul Baiano (FASB), in Portguese - which will provide technical and financial support for projects. The initiative, which brings together the Forestry Forum of Bahia, the technical supporter NGPTA and a Danish investor, aims to boost local actions focused on sustainable development through the formation of agroforestry, production of wood and food, protection and restoration of degraded areas.
The Forum, which currently monitors land use and land cover in the region where it operates, will have a new dynamic with FASB in intervention in the territory, through projects in partnership with regional institutions and rural producers.
The Bahia Forestry Forum will be involved in the origination of the projects, making the first assessment as to the objectives and costs, with the NGPTA team working at the operational level to provide the technical support necessary for the analysis and development of these projects.
