In 2024, NGP will have its first study tour in Kenya. This event will be organised in partnership with the Gatsby Africa project ‘Unlocking Private Investment in Commercial Forestry to Deliver on Kenya’s Climate Strategy’.
The study tour will review and discuss challenges and opportunities in harnessing the potential of planted forests to meet growing human needs, restore forest ecosystems, and mitigate climate change. The size of these challenges and opportunities for planted forests are even greater in Africa.
The Gatsby project aims to support the deliver on Kenya’s ambitious carbon targets, through inclusive public private partnership’s for sustainable management of public plantations, scaling private investment in commercial forestry, and increase demand for sustainable timber by incentivise investment in sustainable value chains.
NGP will bring its ecosystem of collaboration and landscape approach to cross-fertilise and enrich the study tour multi-stakeholders discussions.
